The Garden of (Un)/Becoming
Graduation Work, Event Horizon, Amsterdam NL, 2018
The Garden of (Un)/Becoming investigates gardening as an architectural methodology, an embodied practice and methodology of care. It makes visible and utilizes as a structural element the support systems which are often hidden- the irrigation that carries and threads a multiplicity of temporal relations. It uses the wasteland/meadow as its foundation; the marginal space where materialities mingle and nature/culture co-emerge into a living reality. Existing somewhere between interiority and exteriority, between architectural model, garden and sculpture, it asks: How can intuitive, embodied construction inform the world of spatial design and practice? How can alternative creative modes of production of the non-architect inform and influence a relational design?
